Day 2 | January 2
DAY 2 | January 2, 2024 | MORE WISDOM
VERSE:
Proverbs 2:6-7 “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; 7 he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity.” ESV
The Lord is not withholding wisdom from us; in fact, He has provided wisdom for the asking. The classic example of a man asking for wisdom is King Solomon. He was the third king of Israel and is credited for writing the book of Proverbs. God heard and granted his request for wisdom and we benefit from it today every time we read the Proverbs of Solomon. With wisdom comes knowledge and understanding. Wisdom is the correct application of knowledge and enables us to put it into practice a life well lived.
A proverb is a short popular or profound saying and precept that expresses effectively some commonplace truth or useful thought or adage. A proverb is a wise saying that conveys truth and is timeless and relevant for every generation.
In this passage we see that the Lord not only gives wisdom, but He has a storehouse of wisdom for the upright and for those who walk in integrity. To be upright is to be erect in posture, to be marked by strong moral rectitude. Not only is wisdom for the upright but for anyone who lacks it according to James 1:5. The Lord will deny no one who seeks or asks for wisdom, so ask. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5 ESV.
TODAY’S PRAYER: Lord, we acknowledge you as the giver of wisdom. We ask for wisdom in areas where we lack it. Thank you for generously giving us the wisdom we need and to correctly apply it so we can succeed, in Jesus Name.
