Day 16 | January 16

DAY 16 | January 17, 2023 | MORE GENEROSITY

VERSE: Proverbs 22:9 “He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” NASB

Generosity is a readiness to share what we have with others, especially with those in need. Notice Proverbs 22:9 does not say to give all your food, but only some of your food to the poor, so generosity means to share. Generosity is a personal quality that shows a willingness and eagerness to give more than is required, or necessary or expected such as time and money.

A generous person will come up with creative ways to give to the work of God and to others. “…A generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand. Isaiah 32:8 NKJV.” Generosity becomes an important foundation in our lives when we recognize the importance of giving.

God rewards those who demonstrate and express generosity. Proverbs 11:25 NASB says, “The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.” Expressing generosity toward the Kingdom of God and others positions us for inevitable increase. Determine to be a generous person rather than stingy and full of greed. “...remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35 NKJV

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for helping us to develop a generous heart and fresh motivation to give. Let generosity become a foundation and an evident quality of godly character in our lives.

Expressing generosity toward the Kingdom of God and others positions us for inevitable increase.
