Tithing: Part 2

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. 11 I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the Lord of hosts.” Malachi 3:10-11 ESV

Nowhere does the scripture allow us to test God except when it comes to obedience to tithing. Tithing must be done in faith with an expectancy that God will open the windows of heaven and pour down a blessing that addresses our need as well as rebukes the devourer on our behalf. It may not seem to make natural sense, but it makes Biblical sense. Giving is a matter of the heart; it’s a matter of putting God first in our finances and putting God first in our lives. He is not really first in our life if He is not first to be honored in our financial stewardship.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help us to commit to honor you in our stewardship. Give us a greater realization that receiving and believing your Word and acting upon it will result in immeasurable blessing in our lives so that we can be a greater blessing to others.

God Bless,

Pastor Matt
