Day 1 | January 5

Day 1 | January 5, 2026 | Surrender

Read: Romans 12:1 ESV “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Reflect: Formation begins with surrender. Before God can shape and mold us into the likeness of Jesus, we must intentionally give Him control over our lives. That does not only include the big decisions. It also includes our thoughts, our words, our habits, and the rhythms of our everyday lives. Surrender is an act of trust. It is simply saying, “God, I am open to Your way, even when it looks different than my own.” As you begin this fast, take time to notice the areas you may still be holding tightly and gently place them back into His care. Formation starts with yielding, because God cannot shape what we refuse to release.

Pray: Lord, I surrender myself to You. Shape me, guide me, and use me for Your purposes.

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for a willing heart to fully surrender every area of your life to God.

  • Ask God to reveal areas where control, fear, or pride still exist.

  • Pray for trust to release your plans and embrace God’s ways.

  • Ask God to shape your thoughts, habits, and rhythms through surrender.

  • Pray for grace to live as a living sacrifice, daily and joyfully.

  • Ask God to form humility and obedience as you yield to Him.

  • Pray that surrender would lead to deeper intimacy with God.
