Day 2 | January 6
Day 2 | January 6, 2026 | Desire For God
Read: Psalm 42:1 ESV “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.”
Reflect: Formation grows out of desire. Just as a deer longs for water, our souls were made to long for God. If we are going to grow and be changed, we have to want Him more than comfort, more than distractions, and more than our own plans. That kind of hunger draws us to prayer, to Scripture, and to a life of obedience. It keeps us close to Jesus. Today, take a moment to reflect on your own desire for God. Ask yourself what you are truly longing for, and invite the Lord to deepen your hunger for His presence, His truth, and His ways.
Pray: Father, create in me a hunger and thirst for You that nothing else can satisfy. Draw me closer to Yourself and help me prioritize You above all things. Teach me to long for Your presence as my soul’s greatest need.
Prayer Points:
Ask God to deepen your hunger and thirst for Him.
Pray that the desire for God would outweigh distractions and comfort.
Ask the Holy Spirit to realign your longings with God’s heart.
Pray for renewed passion for prayer and Scripture.
Ask God to draw you closer to His presence.
Pray that spiritual apathy would be replaced with holy hunger.
Ask God to teach you to desire Him above all else.
