DAY 21 | January 21, 2024 | MORE CONSECRATION
VERSE: Joel 2:15-16 “Blow the trumpet in Zion; consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly; 16 gather the people. Consecrate the congregation; assemble the elders; gather the children, even nursing infants. Let the bridegroom leave his room, and the bride her chamber.” ESV
The prophet Joel called for an alarm to be sounded to invite the inhabitants of the city, both young and old, leaders and common people to assemble for a time of consecration to the Lord. In a time of serious crisis, it was their opportunity to get right with God.
Society knows very little about consecration in today’s culture, yet alone the church. Living a consecrated life is what we are called to do if we are going to experience more of what God has purposed for our lives.
What is Consecration?
To consecrate is to devote, to dedicate or to be set apart for service; it is a preparation of the heart for God to do a work among us. In the context of our lives it has to do with a personal commitment to God, to His will and His service. To consecrate ourselves is to seek Him wholeheartedly. When the Israelites entered the Promised Land, Joshua called the people to consecrate themselves in preparation of the mighty works He was about to do among them. “Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” Joshua 3:5 ESV.
God is able to work a work in us and through us when our life is consecrated to Him. It is the Father’s desire to significantly impact others through us. Consecration is not acting on a feeling but an act of our will to surrender to Jesus Christ. Consecration is a surrender of our lives, our time and choices to God’s purposes. Consecration is a response to God of surrender to His will.

Heavenly Father, we consecrate our life to you today, to be devoted and surrendered to do your will.
