Keys of the Kingdom

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19 ESV

An incredible truth and privilege for followers of Christ is the authority of the believer. Jesus gives us the keys of the Kingdom of heaven. Our keys in the natural lock and unlock things that we have access to. Essentially, the keys of the kingdom of heaven give us access and authority to bind and to loose. This authority is given to us and exercised in prayer to confront the forces of darkness.

Our authority exercised on earth is backed up and supported in heaven. Our authority in prayer is recognized in heaven and on earth, in both the seen and unseen realm. What a wonderful privilege, yet a serious responsibility for us as believers. “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” Luke 10:19 ESV.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Thank you Jesus for giving us the keys of the Kingdom of heaven to exercise authority to bind and to loose. We ask that give us understanding and revelation concerning the authority of the believer when confronting the enemy of our souls and the forces of darkness.
