Willing to Heal

“And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, "If you will, you can make me clean." 41 Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, "I will; be clean." 42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.” Mark 1:40-42 ESV

Leprosy is a disease there is no natural cure for, however Jesus demonstrated that He was not only able but also willing to cure the incurable. Not only is Jesus able to heal, He is willing to heal as demonstrated in this passage. Believers in general don’t question Jesus’ ability to heal them yet many question whether it’s His will. They don’t question can He heal, they question if He will. Jesus expressed His willingness to heal not only to this leper but throughout His earthly ministry. Is it God’s will to heal? The answer is yes because Jesus is God’s will in action.

When people in need of healing pray, “If it be thy will,” they are questioning Jesus willingness to heal them not His ability, which was the case with this leper. Jesus proves the point that it is in fact His will to heal sick people. Jesus is moved by the condition of the sick and afflicted and is willing to do something about it when we come to Him in faith. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” Acts 10:38 ESV.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank you that we can be assured that you are not only able to heal the sick and afflicted but it is your will to do so. Help us to no longer question your will to heal us as we come to you in faith.

God bless,

Pastor Matt
