Forgiveness & Healing

“Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your bed and walk'? 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" —he said to the paralytic— 11 "I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home."” Mark 2:9-11 ESV

Jesus questioned the scribes because they had questioned His authority to forgive sins. Jesus not only forgives sins but He also heals our sickness and disease. There is no difference from His standpoint, because one is not more difficult than the other.

Today most believers have no problem believing that Jesus will forgive their sin, unlike the religious leaders of Jesus day that questioned His authority to do so. Mark chapter 2 in Jesus ministry proved conclusively that He does both under God’s authority. Jesus set the record straight for anyone who would question His power and authority to forgive sin and heal sickness and disease. “And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and implored him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well.” Mark 6:56 ESV.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord Jesus, we acknowledge and believe that you have authority over sickness and disease and authority to forgive sins. Thank you for not only forgiving us but also for healing us through your work of redemption.

God bless,

Pastor Matt
