Trusting Your Own Way

“Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. 13 You have plowed iniquity; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way…” Hosea 10:12-13 ESV

Sowing and reaping is a timeless Biblical principle that produces either a positive or negative outcome. The truth is, we reap what we sow. Hosea confronts the people for plowing iniquity because they had trusted in their own way. Iniquity is defined as wickedness, sin or perversity which when acted upon yields a harvest that produces injustice. The contrast is evident and the message is disheartening because the people trusted in their own way believing in lies. In the book of Job a similar verse addresses this issue. “As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.” Job 4:8 ESV.

Trust becomes a real issue when we fail to place it where it truly belongs. We are not to trust in our own way but in God to show us His way.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we determine to not only seek you but to place our trust in you and your way. Forgive us for trusting in our own way.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 ESV.

God Bless,

Pastor Matt
