Time To Seek The Lord

“Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.” Hosea 10:12 ESV

It is time to seek the Lord. The sowing and reaping principle is seen in the wake of revival in the context of this passage. We see a picture of the condition of a hardened heart that needs to be prepared to receive the seed of God’s Word. When we sow righteousness we will reap steadfast love, and as we seek the Lord He will come and rain righteousness upon us. Righteousness is the quality and characteristic of the nature of God; it is His right action and right order in our lives. The Lord imputed (credited) righteousness under the Old Covenant; under the New Covenant we become the righteousness of God through faith in Him. “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV.

Just as hardened soil needs to be plowed and properly conditioned to prepare the seed for planting, hearts need to be prepared for revival. There is a required preparation of the heart and conditioning that is conducive for a move of God’s Spirit in our lives.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help us to recognize and accept the invitation to sow righteousness and seek you. Prepare us for what you desire to do in our lives as we sow righteousness. Thank you for pouring out your righteousness upon us.
