You are a Warrior

“Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, "I am a warrior."” Joel 3:10 ESV

We cannot deny that there are battles in life we face that we must be willing to fight. God has an army and we are part of it whether we want to admit it or not. Although we know the battle is the Lords we still have to fight from a spiritual perspective. However, our tactics and strategy is unique and different from what the world perceives. The Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy encourages Timothy as a solder of Christ to share in the suffering that comes from being a faithful witness of Jesus. “… in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 2:2-3 ESV.

We all encounter weakness and weak moments in our life yet the prophet Joel instructs the weak to say, “I am a warrior.” When we walk with God weakness is no longer an excuse because He is our strength. Consider Joel 3:10 in two other translations; the New King James Version states, “Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’” The New Living Version states, “Let the weak say, “I am a powerful soldier.”

It’s time to declare strength even though we may feel weak. In our weakness we are to confess God’s strength in light of the truth. We may acknowledge our weakness but we cannot neglect to declare by faith that we are strong in the Lord. Such a statement of faith is true in light of God’s Word whether it seems like it or not. We are strong in the Lord because the Lord is the strength of our life. “God, the Lord, is my strength…” Habakkuk 3:19 ESV. It’s time to put on the armor of God and fight the good fight of faith.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you that in our weakness we can declare that we are strong warriors. We declare that we are strong in you. Thank you that we don’t have to face our battles alone or live a life of defeat because you have won the victory for us. “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 ESV.

God Bless,

Pastor Matt
