The Good Fight

“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12 ESV

The good fight signifies a fight that we are assured and guaranteed to win. It’s a fight we’re properly equipped and prepared for in order to secure a sound victory that holds eternal value. A good fight also implies that we are fighting for a noble or worthy cause. The scripture instructs us to fight in 1st Timothy 6:12, but its focus is the exercise of faith in our confrontation as we believe, trust and stand on God’s Word.

To fight is to contend or struggle; one definition is a violent confrontation or struggle. We fight the good fight of faith with the words we speak. Our words must be faith filled, not full of doubt and unbelief. A good confession is to declare that we are strong in the Lord even though we may be weak in ourselves… “Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’” Joel 3:10 NKJV. To speak faith filled words we must speak what aligns with the Word of God. “Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak.” 2 Corinthians 4:13 ESV.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us strength and courage to fight the good fight of faith in the present conflict we are facing. We take hold of eternal life making a good confession in the presence of many witnesses. We are confident that the victory is ours as we speak your Word in faith, in Jesus Name.

God Bless,

Pastor Matt
