False Accusation - Part 4

“My God sent his angel and shut the lions' mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm." Daniel 6:22 ESV

Daniel spends a night with the lions and all ends well. He is vindicated and those who opposed him suffered the same fate they had intended for him. Because Daniel trusted in God he was delivered and no harm came to him, although he suffered persecution for his faith in God. Like it or not Jesus said we will be persecuted for righteousness sake. “Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you...” John 15:20 ESV. There are evil forces and influences in the world that oppose those who are living for God.

To accuse is to charge someone with an offense or crime; it is actual or perceived blame to someone who is believed to be guilty. False accusation is an assault against the innocent. Daniel was not at fault and the miracle in the lion’s den proved his innocence. “But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,” 1 Peter 3:14 ESV.

It is one thing to suffer for what we have done wrong, but it’s when we’ve done nothing wrong and suffer for it is where we can struggle. Love is the guiding principle in the Christian walk not only among Christian relationships but with those who oppose us as well. Love does not seek its own revenge. “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Romans 12:19 ESV.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, we will remember the story of Daniel and how you shut the mouth of the lions to preserve his life. Thank you for the promise of protection from danger or harm for those who put their trust in you.

God Bless,

Pastor Matt
