False Accusation - Part 3

“All the high officials of the kingdom, the prefects and the satraps, the counselors and the governors are agreed that the king should establish an ordinance and enforce an injunction, that whoever makes petition to any god or man for thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions..” Daniel 6:7 ESV

Conspiracy is often associated with false accusation. It’s not easy to be falsely accused when there are no grounds for the accusation or complaint. When people complain about us, we can usually identify a motive behind the complaint. The most common motive is jealousy.

Jealous people put others down in an attempt to make themselves look good. For Daniel this resulted in a conspiracy against him from other high ranking government officials in the kingdom. Because they were unable to find fault in his character and conduct they devised a plan to deceitfully contrive a law that would prohibit him from practicing his faith.

The new law would prohibit him from praying to the God of heaven for 30 days. This was an invasion of Daniels private life in his relationship with God. It would not succeed because he was not about to compromise his faith. Still, he had to suffer the consequences of breaking the insidious law in order to remain faithful to his God. “Then these men came by agreement and found Daniel making petition and plea before his God. 12 Then they came near and said before the king, concerning the injunction, “O king! Did you not sign an injunction, that anyone who makes petition to any god or man within thirty days except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?...”Daniel 6:11-12 ESV

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, help us to recognize false accusation, complaints and jealousy for what they are and remain committed to you in spite of them.

God Bless,
