The Harvest

“For you also, O Judah, a harvest is appointed. When I restore the fortunes of my people.” Hosea 6:11 ESV

The appointed harvest is a predetermined time set by God to restore what has been stripped from His people. What is lost will be restored according to God’s promise. Much has been lost due to sin and disobedience yet God has appointed a harvest and determined a time of restoration for us.

Harvest is not just in reference to crops, wealth, lands and property, but in reference to people that are lost and bound in sin. Jesus spoke of the harvest in the ninth chapter of Matthew. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:36-38 ESV.

Hosea 6:11 in the New King James Version states, “A harvest is appointed for you. When I return the captives of My people.” This speaks of the appointed harvest when God returns those taken captive by sin unto Himself. “Therefore He says: “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives…” Ephesians 4:8 ESV. We too are among those who were captives but now have found our freedom in Christ.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we pray to you the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into the harvest. Thank you for the appointed harvest that brings restoration of what was lost through the bondage of sin that once held us captive

God Bless,
