Lack of Knowledge

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” Hosea 4:6 ESV

Unfortunately God’s people suffer destruction because of lack of knowledge. The reference is pertaining to rejecting the knowledge of God’s Word. The principle applies to life in general but lack of knowledge of God’s Word is the most costly. As long as a person continues to reject the Word they will suffer from lack of knowledge which will potentially lead to destruction.

What we don’t know can cause hurt and destruction and what we do know can avoid hurt and destruction. Jesus sated boldly in John 8:32 that knowing the truth would set us free. Lack of knowledge of the truth is a plague that has kept people from experiencing God’s best in their lives. Lack of knowledge can be viewed as willful ignorance with a destructive consequence.

Lack of knowledge of the truth of God’s love for us is the most detrimental; which is what Gomer needed to understand and receive in her life. Rejecting Hosea’s love caused her to go astray, maybe because she didn’t think she deserved his love. None of us deserve God’s love, but receiving the revelation of the knowledge of God’s love and not rejecting it will result in salvation not destruction.

Lack of knowledge is one thing, but rejecting knowledge is another. There are those who reject the knowledge of God because they refuse to change. They don’t want to know the truth because of the demand it will place upon their life. Yet it’s the truth that brings freedom when we receive and embrace it in our lives.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we pray for knowledge and understanding of your Word in the areas of our life we suffer from lack of knowledge, in Jesus Name we pray. “Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.” 2 Timothy 3:16 The Message.

God Bless,

Pastor Matt
