Discernment - Part 4

“Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.” Hosea 14:9 ESV.

In Hosea chapter 14 God appeals to his people to return to Him with promises to bless, heal and restore. For His people to recognize and understand this appeal it required discernment. The UN-discerning are disadvantaged when it comes to having or showing good judgment. Discernment is to show good judgment and is needed to recognize God’s voice in response to what we are presently going through. 

Discernment is required to understand the will of God. The Spirit of God alerts and quickens discernment of the times and seasons we are living in as well and the certainty of knowing His will. Spending time in the Word, in prayer and fellowship with God's people are essential elements to grow in discernment. Lack of discernment of the ways of the Lord will actually cause people to stumble over them, because it takes a discerning heart to know and understand them.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Thank you Heavenly Father for the importance of discernment regarding our lives. Help us to be a discerning people; a people who walk in your ways rather than stumble as transgressors.
