Longing For His Presence

“For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.” Psalm 107:9 ESV

An initial sign of revival is a deep longing for the presence of God. It’s finding true satisfaction that only comes from right relationship with Him. Revival is viewed as both a corporate move as well as a personal move of God in people’s lives. I am an advocate for personal revival, because of its contagious nature. Just one person having a radical encounter with Jesus Christ can and will impact others. “O Lord, all my longing is before you; my sighing is not hidden from you.” Psalm 38:9 ESV.

Revival can and should begin with us; when our spiritual hunger exceeds our mediocrity, when we no longer want to remain complacent and when we refuse to settle for less than God’s best for our life. Revival begins with a longing for His presence due to a dissatisfaction with the way things are. The psalmist’s desire was to be in the place where God dwells. To be in His courts speaks of the place where the King rules and reigns. “My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.” Psalms 84:2 ESV

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I call upon you today to send revival. Let revival begin in us, wake up the sleeping church and those who have strayed, let them return to you. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Matthew 5:6 ESV.

God bless,

Pastor Matt
