Restore Us

“Restore us to yourself, O Lord, that we may be restored! Renew our days as of old—” Lamentations 5:21 ESV

Restoration is the action of returning something back to a former owner, place, or to its original condition. The context of this passage is in reference to restoration of right relationship with God.

In the midst of crisis for the nation of Israel Jeremiah appeals to the Lord for restoration; which is actually an appeal for revival. God’s people were in a backslidden condition because the nation had departed from serving the Lord and were given over to idolatry. We see parallels and similarities in our nation today. America is in a desperate need for restoration on many levels. Our society seems to be deteriorating rapidly yet there is a plea for revival among God’s people who have remained true to Him.

Revival restores God’s people to Himself in right relationship so He can accomplish and fulfill His purpose among them. God’s restoration plan was carried out through Jesus Christ who came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). “It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).” 2 Corinthians 5:19 Amplified Bible

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, we pray for restoration and revival in our personal lives, also within the church and for our nation. Restore us to yourself and use us to proclaim the message of restoration to others, in Jesus Name.

God Bless,

Pastor Matt
