Worthless Focus

“Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways.” Psalms 119:37 ESV

What is your focus, what are you looking at, where are your eyes turned? We are challenged not to focus on worthless things, but how are we to know what’s worthless or not. The Psalmist asks God to turn His eyes from looking at worthless things, and to give him life in God’s ways. What an incredible prayer.

When we consider what is of value and worth we must determine if it will contribute or detract from God’s calling and purpose for our lives. We determine what is valuable dependent upon it’s worth. A question often asked in life is, “is it worth it?” Before a purchase or making a decision or choosing an action we attempt to ascertain the value it will add to our life. If it’s worthless it will detract from our life. Don’t invest time, money or your attention on worthless things. For God to turn our eyes from looking at worthless things He will draw our attention to what is of truth worth and value by giving us life in His ways.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Thank you Heavenly Father for turning our eyes from looking at what is worthless which would devalue who we are, to looking at things which will make known our true value and worth through life in you. In Jesus Name we pray.

God Bless,

Pastor Matt
