Everything That Has Breath

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! 2 Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! 3 Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! 4 Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! 5 Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! 6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” Psalms 150:1-6 ESV

Psalm 150 is a profound exhortation for us to praise God wholeheartedly. The psalm is a symphony of praise to God which answers the who, the where, the why and the how of praising Him. Praise is much more than a well sung song, it is an expression and acknowledgement of our devotion, affection, love and heartfelt appreciation to God with our instruments and voices. As long as we’re breathing we are without excuse for withholding praise. It does not matter if we carry a tune or not, praise on our lips brings pleasure to God. It is a decision and a choice; so praise Him unashamed, be intentional and deliberate in your praise to Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for the encounter of your presence that occurs when we praise you. Thank you for eliminating every excuse that would hinder or interfere with our praise. Give us a greater freedom and boldness to praise you without shame.

God bless,

Pastor Matt
