Walking In Love

Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:3-4 ESV

We are never to forsake walking in love. The great commandment Jesus gave us was to love God and love people (Matthew 22:36-40). I often use Proverbs 3:3 in a wedding ceremony, and direct it to the bride and groom to challenge them in their commitment to love and remain faithful to each other in their marriage.

We are to bind love and faithfulness around our neck. To understand this consider the following? People wear necklaces or pendants, sometimes a cross or some symbol which often is reflective of what’s in their heart. Steadfast love and faithfulness is to be displayed in our life and visible to others. The Hebrew meaning implies that steadfast love is a consistent love; it’s a loyal love which comes from God and becomes part of our nature. What God has done in our heart must be evident in our behavior for all to see as a necklace would be visible around our neck.

We are called to walk in love which results in favor and good success in the sight of God and man. This is an elementary lesson and principle for building successful relationships and successful lives. It is a key to success that is often overlooked by success and motivational speakers.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, our prayer is that steadfast love and faithfulness would never leave us. Let it be evident in our relationship with you and towards others in Jesus Name.

God bless,

Pastor Matt
