You're Invited

“I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord!"” Psalms 122:1 ESV

Have you ever been asked to go to church with someone? What was your reaction? David was glad when asked because He loved being in the presence of God among God’s people. The house of the Lord in the Old Testament was in reference to the temple in Jerusalem, a physical building. Today, under the New Covenant it is in reference to the gathering and assembling of God’s people ‘the church’ for worship. The church is not a physical building but the people of God who His Spirit inhabits. “…we are the temple of the living God.” 2 Corinthians 6:16 ESV.

Gathering together in the house of the Lord in a place of worship should excite you not bore you when you realize you get to spend time in God’s presence with His people. We see the principle of gathering in the Gospel of Matthew, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:20 ESV.

Take it upon yourself to invite others to encounter God in a church that’s alive with the Word and His presence. You would be surprised how many will take you up on it. I believe people are hungry for God in this hour and many are waiting to be asked.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for the exhortation in your Word to gather with other believers and be vitally connected to a local church. Help us to make it a priority in our lives and not neglect it as some have. Let us not fail to invite others to gather with us. “We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming.” Hebrews 10:25 GW

God bless,

Pastor Matt
