Day 13 | January 13

DAY 13 | January 13, 2024 | MORE GRATITUDE

VERSE: Colossians 4:2 “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving” NASB

Effective prayer requires maintaining an attitude of thanksgiving which should be evident in our communication with the Father. Verbalizing thanks can be challenging in times of struggle, yet it is a key to our victory. We must stay alert to the danger of grumbling and complaining which are symptoms of being unthankful. Failure to give thanks to God for His answer keeps us in a place of defeat, delaying the breakthrough we need.

Sincere, true, heartfelt thanksgiving is the highest form of worship and expression of one’s faith. Our prayer time should be filled with thanksgiving. Faith is expressed through gratitude; thanking God for the answer before it is manifest. The Message Bible emphasizes that diligence in prayer and gratitude is an eye-opener, giving us spiritual insight to what we’re dealing with. “Pray diligently. Stay alert, with your eyes wide open in gratitude. Colossians 4:2 MSG.”

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help us to maintain an attitude of thankfulness in prayer when confronted or faced with challenging circumstances or situations. Help us to recognize that being thankful will keep us alert in the midst of what we are facing.

Sincere true heartfelt thanksgiving is the highest form of worship and expression of one’s faith.
