Anxiety: Part 3

“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:31-33 ESV

“Do not be anxious!” Jesus command that we are not to be anxious is not just a suggestion, especially concerning the basic needs of this life. Most of us need to repent for giving place to anxiety. Anxiety from Jesus perspective is a result of failure to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. To seek the Kingdom of God is to submit to His influence. To seek His Kingdom is to put His interests first, to seek His righteousness is to seek His right order in our lives. We may seek the Kingdom of God, but is it our first priority? Unfortunately for some it’s only a last resort when we have exhausted all other options.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Thank you Father that you are aware of everything we need in this life and that you do not want us to be anxious about our basic human needs. Forgive us for neglecting to seek first your kingdom and your righteousness.

God bless,
