Jesus's Ministry

“And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people. 24 So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them.” Matthew 4:23-24 ESV

There is no disease or affliction that Jesus cannot heal. Jesus earthly ministry activity was essentially 3-fold; teaching, preaching and ministering to the sick and afflicted. His compassion was evident as He ministered to hurting humanity, healing and delivering them from oppression, which is an example for us and all who follow Him. Not only did He teach and proclaim the gospel of the kingdom, He healed the sick and afflicted and delivered those oppressed by demons. Although some may claim that His miracles have ceased, scripture is clear that He does not change. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 ESV.

The scriptures give us conclusive proof that Jesus ministry was supernatural. And if that’s the case and He has not changed than it’s obvious that He still heals and delivers today; except He does it through those who believe in Him. He has commissioned and anointed us to carry on His earthly ministry to hurting people. “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18 ESV.

A true believer of Jesus Christ is one who does His works. “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12 ESV. Greater works not necessarily in quality but in quantity, because now every believer is a minister of Christ that He can work through to carry on His ministry.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we offer ourselves to you as we consider the ministry of Jesus and what He commissioned us to do. We ask that you work through us as a vessel to carry on His present day ministry in the earth.

God bless,
