Promise to Save

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country, 8 and I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness." Zechariah 8:7-8 ESV

God’s promise to save His people is far reaching and extends from east to west. Frequently mentioned throughout the Bible is how God longs to be our God and longs for us to be His people. This repeated theme reveals God’s heart to include us in His family. His desire is for us to respond to him and encounter His faithfulness and righteousness.

Zechariah is one of the greatest Messianic books of the Old Testament, containing specific and detailed prophesies that Jesus fulfilled during His earthly ministry. Jesus gave proof that He truly was the Messiah as He fulfilled in detail what was foretold of Him. God’s promise to save was confirmed to Joseph by an angel in a dream. “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet.” Matthew 1:21-22 ESV.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for the promise to save and it’s fulfillment through Jesus death on the cross. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:17 ESV

God Bless,
