Who Do You Say I Am?

“He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 16:15-17

The question everyone must answer that Jesus is asking; “Who do you say that I am?” Jesus addressed this question to His disciples and Peter was first to respond to Him. His answer identified the truth about who Jesus is and affirmed his belief in Him. Peter answered the question correctly because He had a revelation from the Father of who He was.

Have you ever considered the question who Jesus is to you? Is He the Christ (Messiah), the Son of the living God, is He your Savior and Lord? Is He your King? Is He the one you serve or is He just a great prophet or teacher or religious figure in history? It doesn’t matter what others may say about who He is; what matters is what you say because it is a personal question that only you must answer for yourself.

WHO IS JESUS TO YOU? The question is both personal and relational. Where are you at with Jesus? Who you say that He is identifies what you believe about Him and determines what you receive from Him. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 ESV.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us a revelation of Jesus true identity; that we may know Him for who He is. Not only who He is but what He came to do to save us from our sins and give us eternal life. Help us to know Him and make Him known.

God bless,

Pastor Matt
