False Accusation - Part 1

“Then the high officials and the satraps sought to find a ground for complaint against Daniel with regard to the kingdom, but they could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, and no error or fault was found in him.” Daniel 6:4 ESV

To be falsely accused is not pleasant to endure; which is what happened to Daniel that resulted in him being thrown into a den of lions. False accusation can eat you up unless you respond to the situation as Daniel did. In the end those who conspired against him suffered the same fate they intended for Daniel and became lunch for the lions. A great lesson we can learn from this story is that in the midst of false accusation God will shut the mouth of the lions so we won’t be devoured.

A den is most commonly referred to as a place of relaxation, for Daniel it became the greatest test of His faith. In a phrase used even today, Merriam-Webster defines lion’s den as a place or state of extreme disadvantage, antagonism, or hostility. Being thrown into the lion’s den is a metaphor used today for being in a precarious situation. It is a dangerous or threatening place or situation, according to Cambridge Dictionary.

My challenge for you today is to look to God when you are falsely accused, and rather than be defensive be decisive in dealing with the matter according to Biblical principles by putting your trust in God.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, help us to respond correctly to false accusation by placing our trust in you. Thank you for giving us insight and direction in dealing with false accusations according to Your Word.

God Bless,
