Redeemed

“I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death...” Hosea 13:14 NKJV

In today’s devotional we continue to look at Hosea and his unconditional love for his wife in spite of her unfaithfulness. Because he loved her he rescued and delivered her from a place of bondage. Hosea was instructed to love Gomer who was unfaithful, even as the Lord loves the children of Israel in their unfaithfulness (Hosea 3:1).

God’s love sees beyond our present condition, no matter how deplorable it may be. Hosea’s willingness to take Gomer back as his wife after she had been unfaithful is an example of God’s willingness to take us back when we’ve been unfaithful. Only one who knows and has experienced the love and forgiveness of God can ever love this way. And one who has experienced His loving forgiveness cannot help but love and forgive others.

This is a true picture of God’s love for us. In the end Gomer remained faithful and so would Israel. After they returned from captivity, they never reverted to serving foreign gods and idolatry again.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, thank you that even in our unfaithfulness you loved us when we didn’t deserve to be loved. Thank you for demonstrating your love by redeeming us from the bondage of sin. Oh how incredible is your love for us. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us.” Ephesians 2:4 ESV.

God Bless,

Pastor Matt
