Death to Life

“Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.” Ezekiel 37:5 ESV

Ezekiel 37 tells the story of Ezekiel's vision of dry bones which is a vision of revival and restoration of Israel. It demonstrates how God restores and brings to life spiritually what is completely lifeless and dead.

Ezekiel’s vision reveals what God can do in impossible conditions. No matter how hopeless a situation seems to be, God can bring to life what is dead and barren. As in the case with Ezekiel, God demonstrates His power when we cooperate with Him and willingly respond to His instructions. Ezekiel was to prophesy or speak to what was dead and dormant; his words spoken in obedience to God’s instruction caused the Holy Spirit to release life and resurrection power where death had prevailed. God needed a prophetic voice to declare what He was about to do. We too are to be a prophetic voice to this generation declaring what God wants to do.

Can these dead bones live? Ezekiel’s answers, "O Lord God, you know." God explains that these are the bones of the House of Israel and can in fact live again. In verse 14 we see the role of God’s Holy Spirit at work. "And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the Lord."” Ezekiel 37:14 ESV. Revival is not successful without the Holy Spirit filling us and the Lord positioning us in our rightful place.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord, help us to recognize what you want to bring to life in our lives, what is dead and dormant that you want to resurrect. Help us to recognize our need for revival.

God Bless,
