Discernment - Part 1

“Her priests have done violence to my law and have profaned my holy things. They have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they taught the difference between the unclean and the clean…” Ezekiel 22:26 ESV

The spiritual leaders of Ezekiel’s time failed to honor God in their priestly role and disregarded the law and profaned (treated irreverently or sacrilegiously) the things of God. They didn’t recognize or differentiate between right and wrong. To make a distinction between right and wrong requires discernment.

We need discernment in life to make right choices. Discernment is the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what for some may be obscure, it is the ability to see what is not evident to the average mind. Discernment is required to recognize the true motives of a person’s character and is necessary especially in knowing who true friends are.
