Discernment - Part 2

“The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 ESV

Not only do we need discernment concerning natural practical matters which we may call common sense, we also need discernment regarding spiritual matters. Our understanding is limited without spiritual discernment. To discern means to go beyond the surface, it’s a searching mind and heart that goes beyond what is obvious or superficial. Discernment is the ability to distinguish and select what is true, what is appropriate or what is excellent. Many believers lack spiritual discernment, yet it is accessible to the believer through the indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit. “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.” 1 Corinthians 2:12 ESV.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit who gives us discernment in both natural and spiritual matters. We ask that you help us grow in greater discernment in the Name of Jesus, as King Solomon asked.” “Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people that I may discern between good and evil…” 1 Kings 3:9 ESV

God Bless,
