Facing Trouble

“Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all the day. 4 Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. 5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. 6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. 7 In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me.” Psalms 86:3-7 ESV

What an amazing scriptural prayer that describes some of the character attributes of God. He is good and forgiving, and abounds in steadfast love to those who call upon Him. When facing trouble don’t hesitate to call upon Him because He has promised to answer us.

No one is immune to trouble and honestly, we are all in trouble without God’s intervention. Trouble can be defined as a condition of distress, affliction, difficulty, or need. Trouble is often associated with problems, misfortunes or even misbehaving. Trouble can be a situation or a conflict that causes worry stress and anxiety.

To cry is to “call out to” or upon someone from an earnest heart. God is sure to answer our sincere prayer whenever we’re in trouble. In Psalm 91:15 we observe that God gets in trouble whenever we’re in trouble. Why, because He said He would be with us in trouble whenever we call upon him. “When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.” Psalm 91:15 ESV.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, it is reassuring to know that we can call on you whenever we get in trouble; whether it is self-inflicted or circumstantial. Thank you for coming into the midst of the trouble in our life to rescue us.

God bless,

Pastor Matt
