Jesus Is Better

“For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. 11 No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalms 84:10-11 ESV

Time spent in the Lord’s courts is a reference to time spent in His presence. Just one day in His presence will impact you for the rest of your life. One day in His presence is better than a thousand days somewhere else. Wow, what value do you place on being in His presence? Just to be near Him is a privilege and honor that’s better and cannot be compared to any other place. One day in His presence verses a thousand elsewhere reveals that quality time with God is better than quantity time with someone else.

Even if it meant being a doorkeeper; the significance of being in His presence far outweighs dwelling in the tents of wickedness. To be able to stand at the threshold; at the door or the entrance is preferred, even without the opportunity of entering the house. It’s far better than residing in the home of the wicked.

Where would you rather be is an indicator of where your heart is at. He bestows favor and honor and will withhold nothing from you when you decide to follow Him with all your heart. His desire is that you have every good thing. God is not the with-holder but the giver of all good things.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help us to understand and better comprehend what it means to be in your courts, in the place where we can encounter your presence. Thank you for not withholding any good thing from those who walk with you. Thank you for not withholding Jesus, your Son from us who has saved us from our sins.
